This Japanese-inspired retreat overlooks Block Island Sound. South-facing, it is ready to receive solar collectors. Large
overhangs are shady in the summer, allow sun to penetrate in the winter. Shoji doors open to a large, wrapping deck. The
central open courtyard encourages natural cooling and features a local rock. Interior woodwork is clear vertical-grain fir
throughout. Exterior is of red-cedar shingles with red-clad windows. Native stonework includes exterior walls, steps, and hearth
and chimney. Interior finishes include poured concrete counters and floor tiles. Click on picture for slideshow.
